April 7th, 2019

Category: general

Aberdeen based charity DRiNKLiNK, was awarded the Volunteer Friendly Award at an exclusive prize giving at Shmu FM with Kevin Stewart MSP, yesterday.

The charity provide support to those affected by someone else’s drinking and Graeme Wood, DRiNKLiNK secretary had this to say about receiving the award which recognises the cause’s ability to support, recognise and reward groups who are good at involving volunteers:

“DRiNKLiNK has always been well supported by the community and we wanted to apply for the volunteer award to make sure we had the infrastructure in place to help DRiNKLiNKers in building their confidence and skills through helping others. This will be a continued challenge for us however with ambitious plans for 2019 into 2020, we are confident that on achieving this award we can scale up whilst delivering rewarding volunteer experiences.”

Kevin Stewart, MSP Aberdeen Central later joined DRiNKLiNK Chair, Stacey Summers as a guest on Shmu FM’s Spotlight and said:

“I am very proud of Aberdeen and the amount of people who give their time to volunteer. We have great hours of participation in Aberdeen and that shows that we are getting it right. It always gives me great pleasure to recognise the work of people in this city and it gives me great pride to award DRiNKLiNK with this accolade today. Just think of all the things that wouldn’t happen in Aberdeen if we didn’t have volunteers.”
